Q: Are you talking the horse races at “Old Del Mar?”

A: Yes. Friday, August 10th marked Dos Gringo’s Celebratory Day at the Del Mar races.

Q: What does that have to do with flowers?

A: Very little but it is one of the traditions that we started ten plus years
ago to celebrate important accomplishments. This particular accomplishment
usually happens on the first Saturday of May. Shocking I know! This is normally the day, if we
are fortunate enough, when we break a “most flowers shipped in a day” record.
Coincidentally, this happens to be the same day as the Kentucky Derby. Hence the tie in and tradition.

Q: That makes sense. What do you do?

A: We leave the office mid-afternoon and head to “Four O’clock Fridays”
when the races start at 4 p.m. We order a late lunch, have a few libations,
and put a few dollars on the ponies. After the races, there is always a concert and many of
us even stay for that and keep the celebration rolling. A fun time is had by all!

Q:  Sounds like lots of fun. Pictures?

A: But of course!
